"Nashville's Green Streets"
Thursday, February 27th, 2020
Gary Hawkins, Founding Principal, Hawkins Partners, Inc.
Will Caplenor, Green Infrastructure Program Manager, Cumberland River Compact
Meg Morgan, Root Nashville Campaign Manager, Cumberland River Compact
Green streets make Nashville healthier and safer by providing an environmentally sustainable approach to infrastructure. Green streets slow, filter, and clean stormwater from streets by using vegetation and trees. Join us as we hear from experts in our community on this innovative technique and new projects.
Gary Hawkins with Hawkins Partners, Inc will share the history of green streets in Nashville, including how Metro has invested in this type of infrastructure. We will also see cutting-edge examples of green streets from across the country and the details of upcoming green streets projects led by the Cumberland River Compact in 12South and on Davidson Street. Finally, we will learn how to advocate for neighborhood street trees and lead tree plantings in your community with Root Nashville.
